NEW Area Math Resources for 3rd Grade

area1

Alongside our new perimeter resources we have also launched our new 3rd grade area resources. Students progress from finding the area by tiling a shape with square metres or yards to calculating the area by multiplying the length and width.

Your students will develop a conceptual understanding of the multiplicative relationship between the number of square units in a row and the number of rows. They will also use what they’ve learned to create on or more rectangular pens with a given area or side length.

The new areas resources include:

  1. Area Multiplication – Understand that the area of a rectangle can be calculated by multiplying the width times the height.
  2. Perfect Pens! – Practice creating rectangles with a given area, length or width.
